Interlibrary Loan (ILL) refers to the borrowing and lending of materials between libraries. ILL helps you obtain materials not available in our library. Thanks to funding made possible in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services, we are able to participate in the Green Mountain Messenger courier service for interlibrary loan.
What Can be Requested?
We will attempt to borrow all materials, but not everything can always be filled. Many lending libraries will not loan new releases, reference books, audio visual materials, and other special formats. We will contact you if your request can not be fulfilled.
Timing of Requests
Please allow a minimum of 7 business days for your request to be processed and received. We place requests through a state-wide ILL catalog system. It takes time for the lending library to process the request then the book must travel by snail mail. We will contact you should there be any delays in processing.
Loan Periods & Renewals
Due dates for books and other returnable materials are determined by the lending library. To renew materials, please contact JTL directly, not the lending library. Renewals are by permission of the lending library.
Please return your ILL on time to JTL. Please do not return materials directly to the lending library. We need to properly track borrowed materials. Lost/missing books that a patron indicated have been dropped off at the lending library, must be replaced by the patron.
If ILL materials are damaged or lost, you will be billed for the replacement cost ($25 minimum) of materials. The ILL office may also suspend future ILL privileges if materials are late.
PLEASE NOTE: THERE WILL BE NO INTERLIBRARY LOAN AVAILABLE THE LAST WEEK OF APRIL 2017 (APRIL 23-30TH).
