Bon voyage! The first region we're visiting this year is Europe. From the icy fjords of Scandinavia to the sunny beaches along the Mediterranean Sea, there is so much to explore in this continent. Check out our Europe Reading List to help you think about what books you want to read. Starting on Tuesday of each week, we'll have a different craft kit ready in the entryway of the library for your family to take home:
And every week, there's also a recipe for a traditional European dish for you to try to make at home. Be sure to send us pictures of your completed recipes! You can tag us on Instagram and Facebook (@jerichotownlibrary) or email photos to library@jerichotownlibraryvt.org. The links for all these recipes can be found below, and there will also be printed copies available in the library entryway: On Thursday, January 28 at 7:00 pm, we'll meet virtually to talk about our culinary endeavors, and see how it went for everyone else. Was there a particular recipe you struggled with? What worked best for you? Which dish was your favorite? Stay tuned for the link to join this virtual conversation.
Safe travels! We're excited to explore this continent with you. If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
With borders closed and flights canceled, the dream of international travel may be unachievable, but that doesn't mean we can't explore our world! Join us as we take a global tour throughout the new year. Each month, we will "visit" a different region of the planet through books, art, food, and music. Reading lists and displays in the library will guide our exploration, and family craft kits will provide a hands-on component to our expedition. Every week, there will be a different recipe for us all to try on our own, encountering spices, flavors, and techniques that might be comforting and familiar or exciting and new. At the end of the month, we will meet virtually to chat about the recipes we tried, and see how they turned out for everyone else. The first continent on our itinerary is Europe! We've compiled a list of books in our collection for you to enjoy, whether you read up on the history and culture of the region or take a mental vacation to the French Riviera. And each week, there will be a new take-home craft kit available in the entryway of the library for your family to explore the artistic traditions of a different European country. And let us say bon appetit, buen provecho, and buon appetito: German pretzels, homemade pasta, a Spanish tortilla de patatas, and French crepes are all on the menu for this month. Printed copies of the recipes will be available at the library every week, or you can find links to them on this webpage or our social media pages. We'll meet to chat about our culinary adventures on Thursday, January 28 at 7:00 pm. Be sure to take pictures of your completed dishes to share with the group! You can tag us on Instagram or Facebook (@JerichoTownLibrary) or email them to library@jerichotownlibraryvt.org. So pack your suitcase and grab your passport; we can't wait to set off with you in 2021. Bon voyage! |
